Happy Birthday To Us! RedCat Multiverse Celebrates First Year Milestones
RCM Labs is celebrating its first birthday by giving all of its community members a sneak peek of the RedCat Multiverse game!
It all started with a vision - a vision of a gaming world with endless possibilities and contests of insight rather than violence. A world where players could LEARN as they played. As new technological advancements introduced the world to the blockchain, a more secure way to use the next version of internet, the timing all fell into place and what began as a spark of an idea came to full fruition and the RedCat Multiverse was born by the formation of its parent company, RCM Labs.
The brainchild of S. Binici Kaya, an MIT alum and serial entrepreneur, the RedCat Multiverse quickly gained its tagline - Play, LEARN, and Earn. As an academic and former software engineer, Binici knew that in the 21st century learning doesn’t stop when one graduates from an educational institution. As adults, we learn throughout our lives, but the manner in which we learn and retain information does change. She also knew that with the onset of Artificial Intelligence, employers would need employees who are capable of doing things that computers and machines cannot. These skills, that cannot be reproduced by any form of technology, are commonly called soft skills, but we like to refer to them as “Power Skills.” They include things like critical thinking, problem solving, communication, time management, and teamwork. This vision - to upskill the workforce, was also about bringing Web3 technology into the mainstream.
To say the past year has been a whirlwind would be a gross understatement. Binici quickly recruited a team of experts across industries to create a game that would be more experiential, more immersive and more valuable than anyone has ever seen before. She gathered thought leaders in game theory, learning and development, game development, and blockchain economics to help her bring her vision to life.
“I studied the Web3 landscape as well as the gaming community as a whole,” said Binici. “One thing became immediately clear. In order to pull this off, as an independent game developer, it would take a virtual village. But I knew that if we could build that village, we could mitigate the increasing skills gap in the workforce and operationalize the latest advancements in immersive learning research.”
She wisely sought to build a strong, engaged online community full of Web3 gaming enthusiasts. These RCM Insiders would play an active role in the development of the RedCat Multiverse. They would also be rewarded for their early interest in this project by receiving special NFTs called Meerkat Bags, which actually contain prompts that holders may use to create a character that may be incorporated into the RedCat Multiverse game.
Here are a few quotes from some of our most active community members:
“As a community member, I am contributing insights on experiential learning, life skills, and my area of expertise – microlearning. For the knowledge you gain, the amount of talent that is returned is ten-fold.” - Robyn Defelice
“I'm very optimistic about RCM which fits my needs perfectly and allows me to participate in creating game characters, play and learn, and earn money.” - Ezra
“The communication here on the RCM Discord Server is always very much positive, uplifting and encouraging, respectful, respected and nurturing! So that’s what made me stay.” - Harold
RCM Labs kicked the year off focusing on initial development and creating a detailed roadmap that would clearly indicate our long-term dedication to this space. Our first white paper was favorably received and our community grew to include gaming influencers and other reputable Web3 projects. We developed our first NFT collection, the Inception Collection, which will provide players with a host of tools, including additional character NFTs, that will help them within the game. Our next two NFT collections are also in the works.
“We are so grateful for our strong online community,” said Binici. “I so enjoy interacting with them and their contributions to this project have been invaluable. Their enthusiasm and engagement is encouraging as we endeavor to provide them with a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.”
As we celebrate our first year, we are extremely proud of the solid traction we’ve gained, culminating in the release of our first game trailer as well as our Game Alpha. These major milestones along with the developed characters are getting us closer to our goals in Q1 of 2023.
Furthermore, we are proud to have a greater RCM community of about 15,000 people across all of our platforms. More than 200 of these individuals hold Meerkat Bag NFTs, exclusively earned by RCM Insiders through high levels of community engagement. Sixty-five of our community members have already submitted wonderful character propositions to our game team.
In June, we released the first of more than 100 characters who will be a part of the RedCat Multiverse gaming experience. As these wildly creative and intriguing characters have been released, fans have been clamoring for more exciting revelations about the game itself. You asked for it, and we’ve answered.
The time has come, RCMers. Here is your first look at the RedCat Multiverse.
