As many of you already know, one of the ways RCM involves our community is through Meerkat Bag NFTs and the Genius submissions which go with them. For each of the immersive universes we create, we’ll choose a couple of those submissions to be developed into in-game Geniuses, which will provide avenues for monetization.

This little recap leads to – you guessed it – the announcement of a newly-selected Genius! Our Creative Director Matthew Grau has made the surprise announcement in our early December AMA already. In this blog, he provides more details about the 2nd Genius to guide future Genius creators within the RedCat Multiverse Community.

Our new winner, a critical thinking Genius, is “Smoky,” created by RedCat Multiverse community member Igor_Kara#9538, from Meerkat Bag Cohort #8.

Here’s Igor’s minted MeerkatBag NFT and his Genius submission, though some of the details about Smoky will change as we develop him further and integrate him into the game.

I want to share with you the story of a character named Smoky. The story begins in the distant past, when the world was no longer the same after the big bang. The universe split into many worlds, and amazing things began to happen. One of those things was that absolutely all inanimate objects became conscious. And all beings began to understand each other on a mental level. It was as if you didn't have to talk or express emotions out loud, your interlocutor would understand what you wanted to say to him, and what emotion to show.

One of those things that gained consciousness was a big cloud of black smoke, which later split into many little clouds. They have no age or gender. Each cloud is completely different in character, and unique in its own way. Baby Smoky is always smiling. You can't see it, but you can feel it while talking to him, has a great talent for persuasion. Over many years of traveling, Smoky has gained a lot of knowledge, and he questions any new information. He likes to talk about different things, and is willing to offer several opinions on any topic. Smoky is willing to offer you several answers to any question you have, and at the same time help you choose the option that suits you best.

He cannot be touched or held, you can only feel him. He lives by his own rules and moves freely between worlds. But at the same time he is always ready to help you and answer all your questions. All you have to do is... to think of him.

About Submissions

One of the things I’m often asked is “what makes a good Genius submission,” other than including the traits listed on the Meerkat Bag NFT.

I’ve posted before on the things which are effective for submissions, but I want to highlight a few things which don’t work, as we’ve received a number of them.

Please avoid characters that are all-powerful or all-knowing, such as gods, paragons, etc. These sorts of absolutes have a tendency to negate swathes of creative ground (and existing development) with the space they sit on.

Also, please avoid characters who are inherently violent or with very violent pasts. Our Geniuses should be inspiring, who are capable of advocating for non-violent solutions to problems.

It’s a thorough process of accepting the genius and we are careful with the character's development, avoiding any gruesome, overlapping description for the characters hence we don’t rush into just accepting the genius.

Also, a submission is not likely to be chosen if it obviously overlaps with characters we've already announced. We also encourage people to read about the Multiverse to understand the RedCat Multiverse’s sentiments and then prepare for the Genius.

We get extremely thrilled to receive the geniuses and we keep looking for the best and most unique submissions. We encourage people to read this blog / holy guide for your next MeerKat Bag genius submission. We look forward to receiving more submissions.
