Meet the King in Yellow

Ready or not, here comes the King in Yellow!

I’ve been heavily influenced by Lovecraftian fiction throughout the course of my life. Not by Lovecraft himself, because it turns out he was a xenophobic jerk, but purely his work. The King in Yellow is a shared, recognizable figure from that genre, and I got to take him in a little different direction. He’s the darkest-themed character we’ve revealed yet, but you need some of those to balance out all the characters who are cute or obviously heroic (of which we have a bunch).

I like a lot of found footage films. Some are garbage, but many are quite enjoyable if you don’t mind the formula. I often throw them on in a window when I’m doing purely graphical work. I guess that’s why I was inspired to tell the flash fiction as a found footage movie, a group of intrepid filmmakers going out into the woods to research local folklore. Like many such movies, the stories turn out to be real and it isn’t good for the characters.

As a collectible, the King in Yellow is one of the two Legendary Characters in the first set, which means there will be very limited quantities of him available.
