THE PORTALS OPEN #1: THE LUMINOUS COURT
As we get closer to the RCM Portals Open: Limited Inception Minting Party, the more we hear from the Multiverse dwellers like Vesper, who speculates, “Maybe cipher. Definitely a puzzle...”
Today was a holiday for the people of the House of Red, so it was a slow day in the Luminous Court. Dancing joyfully across the beautiful stained wood floor for no particular reason was Vesper, the Indigo Fool.
Pirouetting, he gracefully stopped a few inches from Amber’s face. She gasped in surprise.
“Hooooowwwww is my favorite page today?” Vesper said.
“Lord Vesper, you startled me,” said Amber.
“Noble I may be, but a jester am I. No lords here,” said Vesper. He suddenly snapped his fingers loudly, “Stay focused. Tell me about your unusual message.”
“How did you know?” responded Amber.
Vesper chuckled under his mask. “A fool has strange ways. Tell me what you’ve discovered.”
“It was just the numbers one, six, and ten,” said Amber.
“Hmmm. Curious,” Vesper said. “The same as the message I received.”
“You as well?” said Amber. “They aren’t some kind of threat, are they?”
Vesper cocked his head. “If they’re a threat, they are wildly ineffective.”
“They must mean something,” said Amber. “The numbers are wrong for it to be a date.”
“And too few to be coordinates,” Vesper added.
Amber chewed a little on her lip. “A lock-box or safe, perhaps?”
“Without knowing which box or safe, the numbers are useless,” said Vesper.
“A kind of cipher?” offered Amber.
“Maybe cipher. Definitely a puzzle,” said Vesper. “Do you like puzzles, young equerry?”
“As of this moment, yes,” said Amber.
“Good!” Vesper said, clapping his hands. “Because puzzles are always worth solving.”
